It’s 1791, the ending of the feudal Edo period is at hand. Western culture is tearing apart Japan and with it comes the thirst for GLOBAL DOMINATION!!! Golba, a soldier from the United States Revolutionary War, seeks to do just that. It’s up to you as Suzuhime or one of 24 fighters to lay the smack down with brutal melee combat and stop this sinister plot.
SNK playmore and Xseed games revitalizes a classic arcade game with next gen visuals and game play. An arcade mode, survival mode, and of course a story mode customized to each of the characters will help refine your skills before you throw down online via head-to-head online combat in the Vs mode. I suggest bringing a friend over for the two player action to see how well you do first though. Just imagine your glee when you smite them and finish them off by…..decapitating them. Oh yes, M for mature kiddies. I was surprised myself as I frantically slashed at my A.I. opponent and was rewarded with not only a win, but a satisfying explosion of blood and an enemy corpse sans head. Arms can also be lopped off as well as other crimson gushing damage areas exist for the skilled or the lucky. 
For those of you new to the series, this game plays like a mix between Soul Caliber and Street Fighter. That means if you are a fan of the simple over over button smashing of games like Tekken, you may wish to reconsider. Each character has a slew of moves and special abilities, skill is definitely a factor here. Quick attacks, Long range, short range, and charged attacks will combine to create a visual display of movement from your character as well as the fighting style they represent. In game graphics look dated however, more like those found on the Playstation 2 at the end of its reign. The soundtrack and locations mingle well with the action to create an environment that may just get you killed if you gawk too long, but I won’t blame you if you want to watch the cherry blossoms fall too.
This game is for those of the fighter genre preferably. Death is assured and not advised for those quick to rage quitting, face smashing, or controller chucking.
